2013 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe

2013 Rolls Royce Phantom Review

(0 Stars)  A mansion on wheels for when price is no object.

New For 2013
The main change is the switch to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which increases highway fuel economy by 1 mpg. There’s a new 8.8-inch infotainment system with features like 3-D topography maps and a new five-camera parking system. LED headlights become standard.
Overview
For 2013, the ultraluxury Phantom sedan gets a few updates: a more efficient transmission, new technology, and LED headlights. Everything about the Phantom can be measured in superlatives, even the standard twenty-one-inch wheels. A 6.7-liter V-12 engine provides 453 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque, enabling 0-to-60 mph runs in 5.7 seconds (add 0.1 second for the extended-wheelbase version). The Phantom is surprisingly good to drive, but the real treat is being chauffeured. The rear “coach” doors are hinged at the rear to make entry and exit more graceful for the lucky passengers, and they close automatically at the touch of a button. Placing the rear seats slightly aft of the C-pillars improves side-impact safety. The Phantom Extended Wheelbase is longer by ten inches and affords rear-seat passengers even more room. Opting for four seats instead of five frees up space between the rear seats for a drink cabinet or a humidor. The Phantom provides a serene, quiet, comfortable ride. Modern-day accouterments like navigation, a DVD player, and a 420-watt audio system are available but are cleverly hidden: the navigation screen is behind a revolving panel with an analog clock, and the power seat controls are tucked into the center armrest. If money really is no object, there is no substitute for the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
