New For 2013
The 2013 Nissan Sentra is all-new this year.
Overview
Nissan has totally redesigned the Sentra for 2013. The dowdy old Sentra has been transformed into a miniature Nissan Altima, thanks to a new trapezoidal grille, a shorter front overhang, and curvier sheetmetal. LED running lights and taillights, chrome trim, and a gentle character line add visual interest. The interior is more attractive, thanks to soft-touch materials, clear instruments, and a new center stack. The only engine is a 1.8-liter in-line four with a modest 130 hp. A six-speed manual transmission is offered on base models; others will get a continuously variable transmission. The 2013 Sentra returns 30/39 mpg city/highway numbers, a huge jump over the 2012 model’s and on a par with those of other compact sedans. To meet the magic 40-mpg highway benchmark, however, owners must pony up for the FE+S or FE+SV model. It adds low-rolling-resistance tires, plus a rear spoiler and aerodynamic aids that reduce drag for better fuel economy. Base models don’t have much standard equipment, but opting for the top-spec SL trim adds Bluetooth, leather seats, heated mirrors, and push-button start. The options list includes navigation, a backup camera, wood interior trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The new Sentra is a pleasant and practical sedan, but it's not particularly thrilling to drive.
