2013 Land Rover LR2 HSE SUV

2013 Land Rover LR2 Review

(0 Stars)  Finally, an upgrade.

New For 2013
The LR2 gets a 2.0-liter turbo in-line four borrowed from the Evoque. With the new engine, the LR2 is much more fuel efficient and packs more power. Slight exterior design changes include the available appearance pack, which adds privacy glass, front foglights, headlight washers, and eighteen-inch, ten-spoke alloy wheels. A new dashboard and center-console design keep the interior fresh.
Overview
For 2013, the Land Rover LR2 gets a new engine: the excellent 2.0-liter turbocharged in-line four found in the Range Rover Evoque. The new turbo four-cylinder produces 240 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque in the LR2, exactly the same as it does in the Evoque. Unfortunately, the LR2 only manages 17/24 mpg, while the Evoque with the same engine manages 18/28 mpg. Other changes for 2013 are less drastic, consisting mostly of revised headlights and taillights, a new center stack that features a seven-inch touchscreen, and a new instrument panel that features the familiar five-inch digital display found in other Land Rover models. The LR2 still features Land Rover’s signature Terrain Response system, which allows the driver to switch settings to a variety of preconfigured scenarios, ranging from sand to mud to snow, so that any off-roading situation can be tackled with assurance. However, the familiar dial to select those settings has been replaced with an array of buttons similar to those that are in the Evoque. Although the LR2 is the least expensive vehicle in the Land Rover fleet and doesn’t come close to rivaling the Evoque when it comes to styling, it no longer feels like a last-generation entry in this very competitive segment.
