New For 2013
Most of the changes are concentrated at the top of the range. A new Limited model—it features unique 22-inch wheels; body-color front and rear bumpers, sideview mirror caps, upper fascia, and grille surround; HID headlamps; and a full-grain leather interior—tops the lineup. Hill-descent control is standard in the FX4. New options include power telescoping-and-folding trailer-tow sideview mirrors.
America loves trucks, and the truck America loves the best is the Ford F-150. Whether you need a vehicle to haul a trailer or one that can race off-road, the F-series has a model to fill the bill. Having updated the F-150 in the last few years with new powertrains and styling tweaks, Ford has seen fit to mostly leave well enough alone for 2013. As it has for the past two years, the F-150 has four engine options: a 3.7-liter V-6, 5.0- and 6.2-liter V-8s, and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost that can tow up to 11,300 pounds when properly equipped. All four engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. As always, the F-150 is available in a multitude of configurations, with regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew cabins, regular and extended bed lengths, and trim levels that range from the workhorse XL to the top-of-the-line Limited model. The Limited is new this year, and it brings greater levels of luxury and sophistication to the F-series lineup—along with a sticker price that tops the $50,000 mark. In addition, there’s the SVT Raptor, a high-performance, off-road F-series powered by a brawny 411-hp, 6.2-liter V-8. With so many versions to choose from, the F-series represents a near-perfect meld of utilitarian practicality and indulgent user-friendliness—which explains why it’s the best-selling vehicle in America.
