The SRX gets an updated grille with more brightwork, revised fender vents, and an updated interior with the CUE infotainment system. It also adds new twenty-inch wheels, a light titanium interior color with raven sapele wood accents, and three new exterior colors. Driver awareness and driver assist packages are optional.
Three years after it was introduced, the second-generation SRX still trails its Lexus competition but has managed to close the gap considerably. Last year, Cadillac did away with the SRX’s previous V-6 engines—a 3.0-liter and a turbo 2.8-liter—and replaced them with an E85-capable, 3.6-liter, direct-injected V-6. For 2013, Cadillac has added the brand’s high-tech CUE (Cadillac User Experience) infotainment system. Using touch-capacitive controls, a large touch screen, and an optional digital gauge cluster, CUE rivals BMW’s iDrive, Audi’s MMI, Mercedes-Benz’s Comand, and Lincoln’s MyLincoln Touch for total connectivity, although CUE is not very intuitive to use. The cabin continues to mix supple leather with high-quality plastics and aluminum trim. On the road, the SRX feels composed over even rough surfaces; it is much sportier than the Lexus, but it won’t ever be mistaken for a track-day toy. The SRX is a handsome vehicle, with creased character lines, angular fascia treatments, and tail-fin-reminiscent LED taillights. Front-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available on all but the base model.
