2011 Lexus HS250h

2011 Lexus HS250h Review

(3 Stars)  Hybrid in expensive suit

Overview
Until the CT200H is released the HS250H will be the most fuel efficient model in Lexus' lineup. This is their first built from scratch hybrid vehicle. Rather than some other model which are gasoline cars with the addition of electric motors and batteries.

It utilizes a Toyota sourced 2.4 liter four cylinder, which when paired with its electric motors, or what Lexus calls it's Hybrid Synergy Drive system, is good for 187hp. The engine features many current gen tech goodies, such as piston cooling oil jets, heat exhaust vents behind the radiator, and a crankshaft optimized for reduced vibration and harshness. The engine also meets the stringent Super Low Emissions Vehicle (SULEV) requirements.

Improving aerodynamics was a major concern in the design of this car and every surface was carefully scrutinized. The result is a .27 CD, this is the most aerodynamic car in its class. This helps it to achieve great fuel economy. It's fuel economy is further reduced by an IR blocking laminate in the windshield to help reduce the need for air conditioning. Even more power can be saved with the LED headlights.
